Five spirits, lemon and cola: a party drink disguised as iced tea.
1972Historical classicResearched
The Long Island Iced Tea was created in 1972 by Robert “Rosebud” Butt at the Oak Beach Inn on Long Island. It combines vodka, gin, rum, tequila and triple sec with lemon and cola, producing a strong drink that looks like iced tea. It became a 1980s and 1990s party staple.
