HISTORY

Donn Beach created the Zombie in 1934 at his Hollywood bar, reportedly to help a hungover customer get through a business meeting. The original recipe was a secret; Beach kept it in coded form and limited customers to two. Multiple rums, lime, grapefruit, cinnamon, falernum, grenadine and absinthe make a strong, complex drink.

SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS
  • Beach’s coded recipe was reconstructed by later tiki historians.
