Tom & Jerry
A warm, frothy Christmas bowl of brandy, rum, eggs and spice.
Tom & Jerry became a winter staple in the nineteenth century, named after the mischievous heroes of Pierce Egan’s 1821 book. The drink is made from a beaten batter of eggs, sugar and spice, loosened with hot milk or water and laced with brandy and rum. It was served in special two-handled mugs and remained popular into the early twentieth century.
