HISTORY

The Jungle Bird was created in 1978 at the Aviary Bar of the Kuala Lumpur Hilton. Dark rum, Campari, pineapple and lime make a bittersweet tropical drink that was largely forgotten until the 2000s, when tiki revivalists rediscovered it. It is now a modern classic and a staple of ambitious bar menus.

SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS
  • The drink’s 2000s revival made Campari-and-pineapple a modern bar trope.
