HISTORY

The Cosmopolitan emerged in the 1980s from several bartenders’ experiments with vodka, cranberry and citrus. Toby Cecchini’s 1988 version at the Odeon in New York is the most often cited, though earlier versions exist in Florida and San Francisco. It became a 1990s cultural phenomenon through Sex and the City.
