HISTORY

The Blue Blazer was Jerry Thomas’s signature showpiece: boiling water and Scotch are set alight and poured back and forth between two metal mugs, creating a blue flame. The result is a hot, strong toddy. It is as much performance as recipe, and it helped establish the image of the bartender as a skilled entertainer.
