HISTORY

The Mamie Taylor was invented in 1899 in Rochester, New York, and spread so quickly that bartenders reportedly raised its price to discourage orders. It mixes Scotch whisky, lime juice and ginger beer, and its name is linked to a Broadway star of the period. The drink appears in Albert Stevens Crockett’s 1935 Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book but never recovered from Prohibition.
