HISTORY

Ada “Coley” Coleman created the Hanky Panky in the early 1900s at the Savoy’s American Bar in London, most likely in 1921, for actor Sir Charles Hawtrey. It blends gin and sweet vermouth with a dash of Fernet-Branca, and appears in Harry Craddock’s 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book. Coleman ran the American Bar from 1903 until Craddock replaced her in 1926.
