HISTORY

The Gimlet is a naval drink of gin and lime cordial, designed to make lime juice keep at sea. It entered cocktail books in the 1920s and became a test of a bartender’s ability to balance sweet cordial against gin. Modern versions often use fresh lime and syrup instead of cordial.
