HISTORY

The Singapore Sling was created at the Raffles Hotel around 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. Gin, cherry brandy, Bénédictine, lime, pineapple and grenadine make a long, fruit-forward drink that was originally closer to a gin sour than the sweet modern version. The original recipe was lost and reconstructed; the hotel’s current serve is one interpretation among several.
