HISTORY

The Margarita is a tequila sour with orange liqueur, created in the late 1930s. Its origin is one of the most contested in cocktail history: Tijuana bartender Carlos Herrera, Acapulco socialite Margarita Sames and several others all have claims. The drink became an international standard in the 1950s and 1960s.
