HISTORY

The Alexander was originally a gin drink, made with crème de cacao and cream. In the 1920s Harry MacElhone popularised a brandy version, which displaced the gin original and became the Brandy Alexander. The gin version is lighter and more botanical, and it appears in the Savoy Cocktail Book.
