HISTORY

The Clover Club cocktail is named for a Philadelphia club founded in 1882 whose members met at the Hotel Bellevue. The first printed reference appears in 1901, when Waldorf-Astoria head wine man Michael Killackey listed a recipe with egg white, lemon, raspberry syrup and Plymouth gin. Albert Stevens Crockett later credited the Bellevue-Stratford, but the drink’s exact creator and date remain unknown.
