HISTORY

The Alaska is a pre-Prohibition Martini variation made with gin, yellow Chartreuse and orange bitters. Its name has no settled explanation; it may refer to the drink’s golden colour or to the Alaska Territory. It appears in the Savoy Cocktail Book and remains a favourite of Chartreuse enthusiasts.
